  • I have a friend who has a home alarm system. When they punch in the code to turn it off, it makes loud beeps. This annoys them so very much, they wanted me to ask it on here. Is there some type of remote, or a setting that has the system not make loud beeps? If there is any product to buy, please put a link or website. Thank You!(:

According to my alarm company tech, if the system is one that has a beeping keypad, there is nothing you can do to make those keys silent. BUT Also according to my alarm company tech, we got a keyfob/ alarm remote, so the beeps are reduced to just the one "disarm" beep when the fob is pressed (like a car key fob). Your friends should check with their alarm company to find out if one is compatible with their system. AND Also according to my alarm company tech, the feature exists to prevent teenagers from sneaking out without their parents knowing, or something like that.

No you don't need to tip him, In fact most companies forbid them to except tips from the customers..

  • I just set up my honeywell alarm due to recent attempts of bulgurary.. When my family and I aren't home and I press the "away" button on my alarm how do I disarm it when I get back home so it doesn't go off on my family and I? My daughter says if I just use our key to open the door then the alarm won't even go off? Help!

    • Response:
Generally speaking alarm systems use an "entry delay", that is the door closest to the main alarm keypad is set as a "delay" zone which triggers a countdown when activated (usually 45-120 seconds) which allows a home owner time to get to the alarm keypad and disarm the alarm system. If your system instantly goes into alarm when you enter then you need to reprogram it (or get honneywell to) so that you have enough time to enter your code before the siren activates.

  • My Ademco home alarm system has previous been set to call Cincinnati Bell in the case of a disturbance or fire in the household. I have gotten rid of Cincinnati Bell's services however, and I was wondering how I could reprogram the system to call my cell phone instead.
    In Topic: home alarm system
    • Response:
You will have to re-program the phone number in your Ademco system to dial your cell phone. To do this, you'll need the installer's programming code for your system, and a programming manual showing the phone number locations to change. You can get Ademco manuals from www.panelguides.com. You may have to contact your original installing alarm company for the programming code, it has likely been changed from the factory default. Good luck!

  • I want to set my alarm system on "home arming" (which is a feature in my alarm system). What does it do ?? And when will it go off ? What will trigger it ? Thanks
    In Topic: home alarm system
    • Response:
Usually it set up correctly it arms the door and window sensors and disables any inside motion sensors. It is triggered by opening an outside door or window. You should check with your installer about the specifics of your system.

  • I was wondering if there were any electronic experts who could tell me how to silently deactivate my home alarm system. I want to be able to sneak out of my house without my parents hearing the loud BEEP BEEP BEEP! Every time I press a boutton. I also want to be able to get back into my house without It going off. Any tips on this, even if it has nothing to do with the system, just on getting out. And btw the alarm system is ADEMCO if that matters

    • Response:
We won't help you with that here. You have a parent problem really, or they have a problem with you. You need to resolve those issues, so you either can come and go as you please, or not need to be sneaking out at all hours of the night.

  • My bills are behind right now. It seems that when I come in the door and just after I disarm my alarm system, the bill collectors call, as if they know that someone is now home. Has anyone had this experience? -Paranoid

    • Response:
No. Think about it, that would be a MAJOR violation of privacy by the alarm company. Plus a thief could pose as a collector and find out when you were in and out (and make a pretty good guess when you were out and forgot to set the alarm. More likely, the collectors have you on autodial and have been ringing you constantly.
